  • Obesity (Curpolency ): excess of body fat / practical definition: BMI  ≥ 30 Kg/m2
  •  Was considered a status symbol reflecting a person’s wealth and power in Renaissance culture.
  •  With famines and starvation now on the decline, and obesity prevalence increased
  • The prevalence of obesity has been increasing for over a century and has increased substantially in the past several decades. (This increase has occurred in virtually every age, race, and sex group).
